What counts as a working day in Poland
Under the Polish Labour Code a working day is any day from Monday to Friday that is not a public holiday. Poland has 14 statutory holidays: New Year's Day, Epiphany (6 January), Easter Sunday and Monday, 1 May, 3 May, Pentecost, Corpus Christi, 15 August, 1 November, 11 November, Christmas Eve (since 2025), and 25 and 26 December. Easter and Corpus Christi move every year; the calculator works them out for any year.
In 2026 there are 253 working days and the full-time working time is 2,008 hours.
Working days and hours per month in 2026
| Month | Working days | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| January | 20 | 160 |
| February | 20 | 160 |
| March | 22 | 176 |
| April | 21 | 168 |
| May | 20 | 160 |
| June | 21 | 168 |
| July | 23 | 184 |
| August | 21 | 160 |
| September | 22 | 176 |
| October | 22 | 176 |
| November | 20 | 160 |
| December | 21 | 160 |
In August and December the hours are lower than working days × 8 because 15 August and 26 December 2026 fall on a Saturday.
How working time is calculated (Art. 130 of the Labour Code)
Full-time working time is 8 hours × the number of weekdays in the period, minus 8 hours for every public holiday that falls on a day other than Sunday. A holiday on a Monday-Friday is simply a day off. A holiday on a Saturday also reduces working time by 8 hours, so the employer must give another day off in the same settlement period (Art. 130 § 2). A holiday on a Sunday reduces nothing.
Example: December 2026 has 23 weekdays. Christmas Eve (Thursday) and Christmas Day (Friday) are days off, which leaves 21 working days. 26 December is a Saturday, so working time is (23 - 3) × 8 = 160 hours instead of 168. For part-time staff, multiply the hours by the fraction of the full-time post, such as 0.5 for half-time.
Adding working days to a date
In "Add working days" mode the start day is not counted, and the calculator skips weekends and holidays. From Sunday 11 October 2026, 5 working days later is Friday 16 October and 30 working days later is Monday 23 November (11 November is skipped). From Friday 18 December 2026, 5 working days later is Tuesday 29 December, because 24-27 December are days off. Enter a negative number to count backwards.
This is useful for delivery times, notice periods and deadlines given in business days. For a full list of holidays and the best bridge days, see Poland public holidays and long weekends. For calendar days, use the days between dates calculator.
