The list covers the 14 statutory public holidays in Poland (including Christmas Eve, a day off since 2025) plus Saturdays and Sundays. It does not include extra days off set by your employer or shift work schedules.

How to plan your leave in Poland for the most days off

  1. 1.

    Choose the year

The calendar opens on the current year, but you can choose any year up to 2040 - movable holidays such as Easter and Corpus Christi are calculated automatically.

  2. 2.

    Set your leave limit

Choose the maximum number of days of annual leave you want to spend on one break. The bridge list only shows combinations within this limit.

  3. 3.

    Pick the best bridge

Sort bridges by value (days off per day of leave) or by date. The "Take leave on" column lists the exact dates to put on your leave request.

  4. 4.

    Plan a longer trip

In the last section enter how many days off in a row you need, and the tool finds the dates that cost the fewest days of leave.

Public holidays in Poland in 2026

Poland has 14 statutory public holidays. In 2026, 8 of them fall on a weekday, which leaves 253 working days and 2,008 full-time working hours.

  • 1 January (Thursday) - New Year's Day; 6 January (Tuesday) - Epiphany,
  • 5 April (Sunday) - Easter Sunday; 6 April (Monday) - Easter Monday,
  • 1 May (Friday) - Labour Day; 3 May (Sunday) - Constitution Day,
  • 24 May (Sunday) - Pentecost; 4 June (Thursday) - Corpus Christi,
  • 15 August (Saturday) - Assumption Day (also Polish Armed Forces Day),
  • 1 November (Sunday) - All Saints' Day; 11 November (Wednesday) - Independence Day,
  • 24 December (Thursday) - Christmas Eve; 25 December (Friday) and 26 December (Saturday) - Christmas.

Long weekends with no leave needed: 4-6 April (Easter), 1-3 May (known in Poland as majówka) and 24-27 December (Christmas). The legal basis is the Act of 18 January 1951 on public holidays; Christmas Eve has been a day off since 2025.

What a public holiday means in practice

On public holidays most offices, banks and schools are closed, and under the Sunday trading ban most shops are closed too. Petrol stations, pharmacies on duty, small owner-run shops, restaurants and tourist sites usually stay open. On Holy Saturday, which is a normal working day, larger shops close early, at 14:00.

Important dates that are not days off include Fat Thursday, Valentine's Day, All Souls' Day (2 November) and Holy Saturday. Easter Sunday and Pentecost always fall on a Sunday, so they never reduce working days.

Best bridge days in 2026

Holidays on a Tuesday or Thursday are the best value - one day of leave gives you 4 days off:

  • 2 January (Friday) gives 1-4 January, or 5 January (Monday) gives 3-6 January; both together give 6 days off (1-6 January),
  • 5 June (the Friday after Corpus Christi) gives 4-7 June,
  • 9-10 or 12-13 November give 5 days off around Independence Day (Wednesday),
  • 21-23 December give 9 days off (19-27 December) for 3 days of leave,
  • 28-31 December give 11 days off (24 December - 3 January 2027) for 4 days of leave.

For majówka 2026, 4 days of leave (27-30 April) give 9 days off from 25 April to 3 May. Leave on 7-10 April after Easter gives the same 9 days (4-12 April).

Holiday on a Saturday - an extra day off

If a public holiday falls on a Saturday, employees in Poland are entitled to another day off. This comes from Art. 130 § 2 of the Labour Code: every holiday that falls on a day other than Sunday reduces working time by 8 hours. The employer chooses the replacement day within the same settlement period.

In 2026, 15 August and 26 December fall on a Saturday; in 2027 it is 1 May and 25 December. There is no extra day off for a holiday on a Sunday. Many employers set the replacement day on a bridge day, so it is worth asking early. Monthly working days and hours are in the working days calculator for Poland.

Long weekends in 2027 and how movable holidays work

Easter 2027 falls on 28 March, so Corpus Christi is on 27 May (Thursday). 2027 has 253 working days and five long weekends with no leave: 1-3 January, 27-29 March, 1-3 May, 30 October - 1 November and 24-26 December. One-day bridges: 28 May and 12 November.

Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring and is calculated with the Gregorian algorithm. Easter Monday is Easter + 1 day, Pentecost is Easter + 49 days and Corpus Christi is Easter + 60 days (always a Thursday). To count days until a specific date, use the days between dates calculator.
