How to convert PDF to JPG

  1. 1.

    Load your PDF

    Drop the document onto the area above or choose it from your device. For a password-protected file, enter the password.

  2. 2.

    Choose format and resolution

    JPG (smaller) or PNG (lossless), and DPI: 150 for on-screen reading, 300 for print. Optionally enter which pages to convert.

  3. 3.

    Click “Convert to images”

    Pages are rendered one by one - you see progress and can cancel.

  4. 4.

    Download

    Download all pages as a ZIP, or single pages with the buttons under the thumbnails. A one-page result downloads as a single file.

Which DPI should I pick?

DPI is the number of pixels per inch of the page. An A4 page is 8.27 × 11.69 inches and US Letter is 8.5 × 11 inches, so the image size is:

DPIA4 in pixelsLetter in pixelsTypical use
72595 × 842612 × 792Thumbnails, previews
96794 × 1123816 × 1056Slides, web pages
1501240 × 17541275 × 1650Reading on screen, email
2001654 × 23391700 × 2200Small print, tablets
3002480 × 35082550 × 3300Printing, archiving

Very large pages (plans, posters) are automatically capped at about 16 megapixels per page so the browser does not run out of memory.

JPG or PNG?

  • JPG - smaller files, best for pages with photos and for scans. Quality is adjustable from 40 to 100% (85% by default).
  • PNG - lossless and sharper for text and line drawings, but files can be several times larger.

Pages are drawn on a white background. Text in the resulting image is no longer selectable - it is a picture of the page.

Choosing pages

Leave “Pages to convert” empty to convert the whole document, or enter numbers and ranges separated by commas:

  • 3 - only page 3, downloaded as a single image;
  • 1-3, 7 - pages 1, 2, 3 and 7;
  • 10- - page 10 to the end;
  • -2 - pages 1 and 2.

Images are always produced in page order, duplicates are skipped and numbers beyond the last page are ignored. Before converting, the tool shows the pixel size of the first page at the chosen DPI. Several images are downloaded together as one ZIP archive; each page can also be saved separately from its thumbnail.

Common problems and privacy

  • Blurry text - the DPI is too low. Use 200-300 DPI or PNG for fine print.
  • Files too large - drop to 150 DPI and 75-85% JPG quality. Going from 300 to 150 DPI cuts the pixel count by four.
  • Slow with long documents - convert in batches using page ranges.

Pages are rendered with pdf.js inside your browser. The PDF - a contract, invoice or scanned ID - is never uploaded, and the images exist only on your device. To go the other way, use Merge PDF, which also turns JPG and PNG files into PDF pages.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save one PDF page as JPG?

+
Load the file, type the page number in “Pages to convert” and click “Convert to images”. A single page downloads as one JPG or PNG file.

Is my PDF uploaded?

+
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and the file never leaves your device.

Can I convert all pages at once?

+
Yes. Leave the pages field empty - every page becomes a separate image and you download them all as a ZIP.

Does it work with password-protected PDFs?

+
Yes, if you know the password to open it - a password field appears after you load the file. The password is used only locally.

What settings give the best quality?

+
For print and archiving choose 300 DPI and PNG (or JPG at 95-100%). For email and on-screen reading 150 DPI and JPG at 85% is enough.

Why does my browser slow down at high DPI?

+
A 300 DPI A4 page has over 8.7 million pixels that must be drawn and encoded. For long documents choose a lower DPI or convert in smaller page ranges.
