How to make a photo collage
- 1.
Add photos
Drop 2 to 9 photos onto the box or click to choose them. They fill the free slots of the collage in order.
- 2.
Pick a layout and size
Choose the number of photos and one of the layouts (grids, one large photo plus smaller ones and more). Then set the size: square, Story, landscape or A4.
- 3.
Fine-tune
Drag one photo onto another to swap them. Select a photo to zoom and reposition it with the sliders, and add spacing, rounded corners and a background colour.
- 4.
Download
Save the collage as JPG or PNG at the full resolution of the chosen size.
Collage sizes and what they are for
| Size | Pixels | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Square | 1080 × 1080 | Instagram and Facebook posts |
| Story | 1080 × 1920 | Stories, Reels, TikTok, Shorts |
| Landscape | 1920 × 1080 | presentations, thumbnails, wallpapers |
| A4 portrait | 2480 × 3508 | 21 × 29.7 cm print at 300 dpi |
| A4 landscape | 3508 × 2480 | landscape print at 300 dpi |
The size does not depend on the resolution of your photos - each one is fitted to its own slot.
Available layouts
There are 24 ready layouts for 2-9 photos, in three basic types:
- Grid - all slots the same size, e.g. 2×2 for four, 3×2 for six, 4×2 for eight and 3×3 for nine photos. Best when all photos matter equally.
- Rows with different counts - e.g. 2 on top and 3 below (5 photos), 2-3-2 (7 photos) or 2-3-4 (9 photos). Looks less template-like than an even grid.
- One big photo - half of the collage, on the left or at the top, is reserved for the main shot and the others share the rest. Great for event recaps and product sets.
When you change the number of photos, the tool picks the first matching layout and the photos keep their order.
How photos fit their slots
Each photo fills its slot in “cover” mode: it is scaled to cover the whole area and the excess is cropped, so there are no empty bars. If an important part such as a face gets cut off, select the photo and move it with the horizontal and vertical sliders, or zoom in. With many photos, choose a layout with one bigger slot for your best shot - the collage reads more clearly.
Spacing, corners and background
Spacing (0-60) and corner radius (0-120) are given in pixels for a 1080 px width and scale with the collage size. For example, spacing 12 on a 1080 px square gives a 12 px gap, and on A4 (2480 px wide) about 28 px, so the proportions look identical on screen and on paper. The outer margin equals the gap between photos. Practical values:
- 0 - photos touch, for a seamless mosaic,
- 8-16 - a thin frame, the most popular choice for posts,
- 30 or more with a radius of 20-40 - a “cards on a coloured background” style.
JPG at 85-92% quality is plenty for social media; choose PNG if the collage contains graphics with text or will be edited further.
Privacy and quality
Your photos are not uploaded - the collage is assembled in your browser. Export uses the full resolution of the chosen size (for example 2480 × 3508 px for A4), so prints stay sharp. Saving a new file also removes EXIF metadata from all the photos, including GPS location.
