How to convert SVG to PNG
- 1.
Add SVG
Upload one or more .svg files, or switch to “Paste SVG code” and paste the contents of the file.
- 2.
Choose the size
Set a scale (e.g. 2× or 4× for Retina screens) or a target width in pixels. The height follows automatically.
- 3.
Pick format and background
Choose PNG, JPG or WebP and a transparent or solid colour background.
- 4.
Download
Download a single file or everything at once as a ZIP.
Why convert SVG to PNG?
SVG is vector graphics - it scales without losing quality, but not every place accepts it. You need PNG for attachments and presentations, editors without SVG support, social media images, email signatures and sites that only accept JPG or PNG uploads for your logo. PNG keeps transparency, while JPG is smaller but needs a background.
Which scale or resolution to choose?
Output size = SVG size × scale. For example, a 24×24 px icon at 4× gives 96×96 px, and a 200×100 px logo at a width of 1000 px gives 1000×500 px. For print, aim for 300 dpi (10 cm = 1181 px); for the web, 1× or 2× (Retina) is enough. The tool draws the vectors directly at the target size, so edges stay sharp even at large magnifications.
SVGs without width and height
Many icons from icon libraries have only a viewBox attribute, and without an explicit size browsers draw them at a default 300×150 px or stretch them. The converter reads the dimensions from viewBox (and from units such as mm, pt or in), so the proportions are always preserved. If the SVG refers to external resources (images or fonts outside the file), the browser will not load them for security reasons - embed them in the file or convert text to outlines.
PNG, JPG or WebP?
| Format | Transparency | Compression | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| PNG | yes | lossless | logos, icons, graphics with sharp edges and text |
| JPG | no (white or chosen background) | lossy, quality slider | illustrations with gradients, places that accept only JPG |
| WebP | yes | lossy, quality slider | websites - usually smaller than PNG |
Vector graphics usually have flat colours and sharp edges, which makes PNG the safest choice. JPG compression creates visible artefacts around thin lines and letters, especially below 80% quality. To convert an existing raster file, use the image converter, and to embed an image in code, use image to Base64.
Limits and common problems
- Maximum size - up to 16,384 px on the longer side and 100 million pixels in total (e.g. 10,000 × 10,000 px). Larger values are scaled down automatically, keeping the proportions.
- Scale - from 0.1× to 32×; fractions such as 1.5 are allowed.
- Missing elements - images linked from the internet, external stylesheets and web fonts are not drawn. Embed them in the file (e.g. as a data URI) or convert text to outlines.
- Animations - an SVG with CSS or SMIL animation is saved as a single static frame.
- Invalid code - if the text has no
<svg>element, the tool shows a message instead of a blank image.
