How to do it?
- 1.
Enter options
Type names, tasks or prizes, each on a new line (up to 200). Empty lines are ignored.
- 2.
Spin
Click “Spin the wheel” or the wheel itself. The spin takes about five seconds and slows down gradually.
- 3.
Read the result
The winner appears below the wheel and in the history; you can copy it or remove it from the wheel.
- 4.
Repeat or shuffle
Spin again, switch on “Remove picked entries” for a draw without repeats, or use Shuffle to put the list in random order.
Is the wheel fair?
Yes. The winner is drawn before the animation starts using crypto.getRandomValues with rejection sampling, so each line has exactly a 1/n chance - 1/6 ≈ 16.7% with six names, 1/30 ≈ 3.3% with thirty. The animation then rotates the wheel at least five full turns and stops at a random spot inside the winning segment, so you cannot predict the result from where it starts.
Nothing about speed, segment colour or the previous result influences the draw. Everything runs locally in your browser; the list is never uploaded.
Weighted draws: changing the odds on purpose
Every line is one segment, so repeating a line raises its chance proportionally. Example list:
| Lines on the wheel | Chance |
|---|---|
| Pizza × 3 | 3/6 = 50% |
| Sushi × 2 | 2/6 ≈ 33.3% |
| Salad × 1 | 1/6 ≈ 16.7% |
A yes-or-no wheel is simply two lines, “Yes” and “No” - a 50/50 coin flip. For numeric results such as 1-6 or a d20 the dice roller is quicker.
Draw without repeats
Turn on “Remove picked entries” and each winner disappears before the next spin. Spinning until the wheel is empty gives you a random order of the whole group - handy for presentation order, team captains or secret-santa style draws. Without it the same entry can win twice in a row: with six options that happens 1 in 6 times, which is normal randomness, not a bug.
You can also remove a single winner manually with “Remove from wheel”. The history keeps the last 100 results until you clear it or reload the page.
Tips for classrooms and giveaways
- Full screen makes the wheel readable on a projector or a shared screen during a video call.
- Keep labels short - the wheel is easiest to read with 2-30 segments; long names are shortened on the wheel but shown in full as the winner.
- Paste a list straight from a spreadsheet column - each cell becomes one line.
- Remove duplicates first in a giveaway where everyone should have one entry; the duplicate line remover cleans a pasted list in one click.
- Record the draw by copying the result or taking a screenshot of the history.
